The story of Camille is from a classic French novel written in the mid-1800s by Alexander Dumas Fils and portrays Marguerite (played by Alla Nazimova), a “kept woman” who has many lovers. She is unhappy with her life and is dying from consumption. A young, upstanding man, Armand Duval (played by Rudolph Valentino) falls deeply in love with her, convinces her to leave her life of debauchery and they begin a wonderful new life together.
