Peter Vantine is an accomplished pianist and award-winning composer whose music has been featured on stage and across media platforms including the Biography Channel, Discovery Channel, PBS, The Learning Channel, MTV, corporate websites, educational software, museum exhibits, and film. He has produced over 30 albums, both of his own work and in collaboration with others as performer, arranger, and orchestrator.

Winner of the 2001 Turner Classic Movies Young Composer’s Competition, Peter composed the score for the silent film Camille (1921) for TCM. His 2014 album Prayerful Improvisations was nominated for Album of the Year by Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, leading to three additional volumes. During this time he also released Peaceful Classics in memory of his mother, artist Ruth Vantine, to support Alzheimer’s research.

From 2019 to 2021, Peter recorded the Notes of Comfort trilogy, providing contemplative piano music for relaxation and meditation. He has also arranged and orchestrated two original musical dramas by playwright David MacAdam—Martin Luther: The Hammer and the Door and Esther: For Such a Time as This. In 2021, he completed his cantata Vita Aeterna, recorded remotely with over 100 musicians and vocalists worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic.

His more recent projects include Flow: Suite for Piano Solo (2024), a collection of etudes inspired by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s concept of “flow.” In addition to piano and orchestral works, Peter explores synthesized space music—creating soundscapes that transport listeners to other worlds.

Peter holds degrees from Berklee College of Music and Boston University. He currently serves as Administrative Specialist & Events Coordinator for the Town of Wilson’s Mills, NC, and, together with his wife Laurie, runs The Music Rescue, an online used music bookstore dedicated to rescuing and recycling musical treasures while keeping them out of landfills.
