“I was listening to your music . . . and had such a presence of calm. Thank you so much. Have not felt peace like that in a while.” – Shannon

FROM THE LINER NOTES: This is the fourth and final album in the Prayerful Improvisations series. I fully intended to conclude the series with the Christmas album, but I then recalled that this series was inspired by God and therefore should conclude with an album that gives thanks to God for who he is and what he has done. By giving thanks to God and focusing all our attention on him, we engage in the act of worship—to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5, NIV). So often we turn to other things in times of difficulty, stress or pain. I believe God’s heart aches when we do so, rather than turning to him first.

One aspect that makes this album different from the last three is the inclusion of contemporary worship songs written by other artists that are often sung in church worship services. I have always been an advocate for creating original material, however many songs like these are becoming the “new hymns” of this generation and it only seemed fitting to include some of them on a worship album.

The goal of these albums has always been to provide a “sacred space” where you might find comfort, rest, peace and even healing. As you listen to this music and draw closer to the only One worthy of our worship, may you find your burden lightened and the touch of true rest upon your soul. May the God of all comfort bless you and yours, now and forevermore. Love to you all…
